Our Farming Practices

Nourishing Food From Living Soil

At Deep Hollow Farm we believe it is our job as farmers to nurture our land while we grow fresh produce for our community.

We take pride in the work that we do and the practices that we follow.

  • We are USDA Certified Organic

  • We use a no-till approach, which keeps the soil intact and limits erosion, while providing a stable environment for the soil biology to thrive and support the growth of nutritious plants.

Organic no-till farming represents an innovative agricultural approach that integrates Organic principles with minimal soil disturbance practices. By forgoing traditional plowing or tilling, this method relies on cover cropping, mulching, and specialized equipment to maintain soil health and fertility. Cover crops act as living mulch, shielding the soil from erosion, suppressing weeds, and enriching the soil with organic matter upon decomposition. Crop rotation and diverse planting further enhance soil quality and biodiversity, while specialized equipment allows for precise planting without disrupting the soil structure. By prioritizing soil conservation and organic practices, Organic no-till farming aims to sustainably manage farmland, improve soil health, and promote environmental sustainability within agricultural systems.
