Our 2026 CSA is open!

Please read all information below before purchasing.

To our wonderful Deep Hollow Farm community,

We want to begin with a heartfelt thank you for supporting us through our first five years of farming in Chester. We are deeply grateful to live and work in this beautiful place, growing healthy food for our friends and neighbors. It truly is a blessing, and we never take it for granted.

That said, over these past five years we’ve also come face-to-face with how challenging it can be to maintain a sustainable work–life balance. Farming will always be demanding, and we are certainly no strangers to hard work. However, now with three children aged five and under, we’ve made the decision to prioritize time together as a family.

In truth, we’ve been discussing the idea of downsizing since our very first year. But it always felt complicated, how do you decide which crops to keep and which to let go? How do you grow less while still offering variety throughout the season? Each year, it felt easier to keep the farm plan largely the same and hope we’d find enough help to make space for something as ambitious as one day off each week. Unfortunately, that never quite materialized, and for much of the year we found ourselves working seven days a week.

This winter gave us the chance to step back and really reflect on what’s sustainable for us long term. After a lot of conversation and planning, we feel confident that we’ve landed on a thoughtful approach for 2026, one that allows us to continue providing fresh, nutritious food to our community while meaningfully reducing the overall scope of our operation.

We want to be very clear about these changes so that anyone considering joining our CSA knows exactly what to expect. So, without further ado, here’s what the 2026 season will look like:

  • We will be discontinuing certain crops that are especially time-intensive or simply don’t “pay their rent” on the farm. These include broccoli, cabbage, kohlrabi, cilantro, dill, and ginger.

  • We will be reducing overall plantings of the crops we do continue to grow, meaning smaller quantities of items like zucchini, onions, and winter squash.

Another change we’re making this season is to pause online ordering during the summer months. We will continue to accept online orders until at least the week of our first Farm Store in May, but orders will definitely close once the Chester Farmers Market begins in mid-June. Online ordering will resume in the fall after the market season ends.

We recognize this may be an inconvenience for some, but the reality is that during the summer we receive very few online orders, as most customers visit us in person at the Farm Store or the Chester Sunday Farmers Market. Packing online orders is quite time-consuming, and eliminating this task during our busiest season is essential if we’re going to create more balance and time away from the farm.

Our hope is that, from a customer perspective, not a great deal will feel different. However, it’s possible that certain items may sell out earlier in the day at the Farm Store or Farmers Market. If you’re considering joining our CSA, we encourage you to reflect on your ability to shop earlier rather than later, as availability may be more limited.

While we completely understand that some folks may be disappointed to see a favorite crop disappear or be available in smaller quantities, we hope you can understand the reasoning behind these changes and see them as an investment in the long-term health of the farm and our family. We are continually moved by the support, care and loyalty of this community. It is truly a special place to live and raise a family, and we very much hope to continue being your farmers for many years to come.

With deep gratitude,
Andrew, Christine, Leo, Sally, and Sky

  • What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.

A CSA is a model in which members pay for a season's worth of farm fresh produce up-front. Becoming a CSA member gives you, our friends, family, and community the opportunity to support a local, sustainable farm and small business while gaining direct access to fresh, nourishing produce. By supporting us early in the season, you are investing in the hard work that we (your farmers!) put in throughout the growing season.

Our season starts slowly around April with vegetables such as radishes, turnips, salad greens, and spinach. By the summer we have everything from onions and carrots, to kale and cucumbers, to peppers and tomatoes. Finally in the winter, the season will wind down with more greens and root crops. We grow and sell ALL YEAR long!

Below you will find more information about what a CSA is and why Deep Hollow Farm is so convenient and unique! Please feel free to call, text, or email any questions you have. We'd love to be your farmers!

    Thank you!

    Andrew and Christine

  • Why Choose Deep Hollow Farm?

    Freedom and Choice!

We offer a unique approach to Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). With our CSA membership, you're not locked into a fixed box of produce each week. Instead, you receive a convenient card, empowering you to select exactly what you want, whenever you want it.

Our CSA model provides flexibility like no other. Whether you're craving a bounty of fresh veggies one week or just need a handful of ingredients the next, the choice is entirely yours. Plus, you have the freedom to skip weeks, take vacations, or adjust your purchases according to your schedule—all without missing out on your share.

Join our CSA and appreciate the freedom to shop at your own pace while supporting local agriculture and enjoying Certified Organic farm fresh vegetables whenever it suits you.

  • Step 1

Choose between 3 sizes of membership:

    Small- $300
    Medium- $450
    Large- $600

Not sure what size membership to get? We like to think about it like this…

Our farming season is 50 weeks (we sell all year long!), the Small Membership is equivalent to spending $6 a week, the Medium is like spending $9, and the Large is $12 a week.

We have found that almost everyone who buys a Small membership uses up their money before the season is over- which is totally OK! You can just buy another Membership if you’d like- the cards don’t expire until January 31, 2027.

  • Step 2

Click the “Buy a CSA Membership Card” Button to be brought to our Online Store.

If you’d prefer NOT to buy your CSA card online, you can send a check or bring a check in person for $300, $450, or $600 to:

    Deep Hollow Farm
    42 Deep Hollow Road
    Chester, CT 06412

Please include your email address in the envelope so we can contact you to send you your CSA Membership card.

  • Step 3

You will receive a Deep Hollow Farm CSA card in your email. The important part of this email is the code. It might look like just a bunch of letters and numbers, but those are your special numbers that you need to access the money on the card. You can print it out, save the email on your phone, or just in case you lose it- we will have all our CSA Members card numbers saved in a spreadsheet.

  • Step 4

You can then use your card throughout the season at our Farm Store, Online Store and Chester Farmers Market.

CSA members receive a 5% credit of their CSA membership price to be redeemed at our Farm Store or at The Chester Farmers Market!

You have until January 31, 2027 to use your CSA card. All cards will expire then.
